Dr. Bruno Sinclair Bolet is the late great-uncle and guardian of Henry Bolet.

Biography[]

Bruno was born in either late 1911 or early 1912. He became a well-respected dentist in the New Orleans area.

At some point in his life, Bruno lost one of his eyes and had to wear a glass one. Bruno collected several glass eyes and would wear a different one every day. He also kept a variety of exotic pets, whom he let roam free so they could come and go as they pleased. These pets included:

  • Bernie, an alligator in the swamp
  • Iggy, an iguana
  • A large spider in the fountain
  • Hornets nesting in a loquat tree

Bruno's home had a large cemetery behind it that he became the caretaker of. Skilled in making miniature models, he created a detailed scale model of the cemetery in his living room so he could better keep track of the graves. For his skill in making miniature models, he won first place in Miniature Modelers of America in 1978, 1982, 1985, 1986, and 1991.

Bruno was a very quiet and isolated man known to have few friends. His best friend was Dr. Gilbert Buford, who admitted Bruno to the secretive Jolly Roger Krewe, a Mardi Gras organization that hailed Gilbert as its leader. Otherwise, he was known to have few friends.

When his nephew Claude and niece-in-law Marianne died in a car crash, Bruno became the guardian their eight-year-old son Henry, as they were each other's only living relative. Although Bruno cared deeply for Henry, his personality limited him from showing his affection in traditional ways. Having never married and being clueless at parenting, he ended up sending Henry to boarding school, summer camp, military school, and college at Emerson.

Somehow, Bruno acquired one of the legendary crystal skulls titled "The Whisperer." He believed very much in its supposed ability to grant immortal life, devising several puzzles within the cemetery and his house to keep it safe. He wanted Henry to find it and keep it for himself, asking his friend Gilbert Buford to put the portrait of Henry's parents in the Bolet family crypt so he could begin searching for it himself.

On May 1, 2007, Bruno died at his home of a heart attack, at the age of 95. The heart attack was caused from shock, due to Bruno reading a letter from an authenticator telling him the skull was fake. It just so happened that Dr. Buford walked in at that moment, saw Bruno lying on the floor, and immediately went to his side. He told the panicking housekeeper Renee Amande to call an ambulance.
